10 Years of Raging Against the Buttplug Machine

I registered slashdong on December 19, 2003. I've now been at this in one form or another for 10 years (and a month and a few days). Long enough that Slashdot has fallen out of being at least semi-mainstream knowledge.

Must be a lot of people who think I'm into cutting off penises now. I'm not. Yet.

Funny enough, the whole reason slashdong started was because kickstarter didn't exist in 2003.

Now I'm apparently the leading expert in internet buttplugs, and have seen more than my fair share of the mp3 playing dildos and code your own sex toys.

Here's to 10 more years of... Something else, I hope. Please.

I still need money to make that quake hardware mod, though.

New Sex Tech Articles Up on Medium

Been busy coding for some new projects I will hopefully either announce soon or stop working on and forget to post the code to github for.

In the mean time, I've been doing more writing for medium. Doing some "Past-Present-Future" posts lined up with the releases of new toys (Worldvibe, Vibease, and probably LovePalz soon), just to get some knowledge of history out of interfaces out there.

Sex Toy Crowdfunding Redux (via Vibease and Blowjob Toothpaste)

So remember when I was all on about kickstarter not letting projects on so all you could really do was fake it or use offbeatr?

Well apparently I was wrong!

That right there is a picture of an Indiegogo campaign for Vibease, the Singapore based vibrator company that's been making its way through startup competitions for the past couple of years. They're looking for $15,000 as a pre-order campaign. As of me typing this, they're already 50% of the way through.

I was not even aware this was possible. Offbeatr seems to have become popular with furries, and both Vibease and LovePalz had their own kickstarter lookalike landing pages for a while. Apparently Indiegogo has always been ok with sex based projects though. From their terms of service:

By way of example, and not limitation, your promise means you will not use the Service: To offer, sell or distribute: Bullying, harassing, obscene or pornographic items, sexually oriented or explicit materials or services

I suppose sex toys aren't really materials or services, if you want to be pedantic about it. So Offbeatr is still the place to go for porn, but Indiegogo is fine for sex toys!
