NSFW Arduino Class with Dr. Xtreme/Orgamastronics at NYC Resistor

Dr. Xtreme of Orgasmatronics is hosting a class on NSFW Arduino usage at NYC Resistor on May 23rd. For USD$90, a PhD physicist will team you all about making vibrators run using many different control techniques!

Orgasmatronics Hackoff Board

Dr. Xtreme is the mind behind the HackOff, an arduino add-on that allows you to control almost any vibrator from your board (similar to Metafetish's own Pen15 board)!

In Tune: Consent Video Game with Skin Conductance Controls

In Tune by Tweed Couch Games is a game about consent. Instead of doing something boring like showing situational images with multiple choice answers, the designers put consent into practice by making the game multiplayer and controllable via skin conductance. See it in action in the trailer below.

Job Posting: Comingle seeks Tangible Interaction Designer (Contract)

In addition to the web development position posted last week, Comingle.io is looking for a web-based tangible interaction designer for contract work! Build neat front-ends to Comingle's open source sex toy technology!

Comingle Logo

Job description from the application:

This position will be responsible for making elegant web-interfaces for controlling our arduino-powered toys. We have built a powerful back-end for connecting to and controlling these robots over the web, and your job will be to create gorgeous, fun to play with, open-source interfaces. Think about fun HTML5 or processing.js style interfaces. Think integrated web cams and microphones. Think fun physics and interfaces that are toys themselves. You should also think about interfaces that will resound with our particular types of users and their very specific needs.

I'm looking at you, every Studio for Creative Inquiry/ITP/etc... student ever. This is why you majored in interaction design, right? LESS CHILDREN'S MUSEUM EXHIBITS, MORE DILDOS.

Ok I am probably not helping and should shut up. Go apply.

Job Posting: Comingle seeking Web Developer

Not often I see job offerings in the sex tech industry, so it's time to signal boost.

Comingle Logo

Comingle, developers of the Mod Arduino Vibrator Toy, are looking for a web developer to join their team. From the application form:

For the Web Developer Position, we are looking for someone with lots of experience setting up a robust CMS customized to our needs at Comingle. We need infrastructure for both community engagement (forums, commenting systems, tutorials) as well as Sales (item listings, incorporation with services like Shopify). Look to websites like Sparkfun and Adafruit to get an idea of the infrastructure we need.

Then we need you to help make it beautiful and easily navigable :)

This will be a fast-moving job with rapid deliverables. We need a person who can dedicate time to quickly building and polishing this.

So what are you waiting for? Go apply today!

BTW, if any other sex tech companies are hiring or looking for contract work, please let me know. I'm always happy to post job offers here.

Metafetish in the Media

It's been a while since I've talked about me talking about myself, so might as well get back to it.

Back in January, Vice ran an article on how far sex toys still have to go. I got to spout off about my theory of time optimization for sex toy use. The article also inducts yet another journalist into the "writer having their picture taken with their finger in a sex toy" club. Congrats Peter Holslin!

Last month, I was interviewed for a radio programme on sex toys by puls.de which is available streaming online. Note that most of the 40 minute program is in German. My portion is about 30 minutes in and luckily for everyone involved and listening, I didn't try to do it in German. There's also interviews with the comingle.io (who also get their own article) and Frixion teams.
